In November 1859, seven religious embarked in Marseille for the province of Maduré in India. Foundations took place in Trichinopoly; in 1863 in Tuticorin and in 1864 in Adeilkalabouram.
The sisters worked especially with widows and Indian religious. Difficulties of collaboration and the absence of communication with Europe brought the experience to an end in 1883.
Out of this apparent failure the birth of a new religious family took place: the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. |
