From the beginning the communities of Marie Reparatrice/ MaryReparatrix consecrated a part of their day to adoration of the blessed Sacrament. Until the middle of the XXth Century, two by two, the sisters replaced each other at the prie-dieu before theAltar. They wore a white cloak with a blue border that could be compared to a cloak worn at a royal court.
The altar was lavishly decorated with flowers, candles, lace and carpets. This life centered around adoration – their “great occupation” – also included the public recitation of the Office of the Sacred Heart and of the Blessed Virgin. (In 1965 the Liturgy of the Hours replaced these Offices). This was a specific characteristic of the congregation which did not strictly follow the Ignatian influence.
This entire cult would be simplified by the Second Vatican Council but the spirit would remain the same.
