23rd DAY OF THE XXV GENERAL CHAPTER05/21/2019
CLOSING OF THE XXV GENERAL CHAPTER05/23/2019
We started the day with the song: Everyday God, asking the trinity (gentle father, faithful brother, tender sister and loving mother) to come ad be with us in our hope, our waiting, our dreaming, our sharing, our laughter, our patience and strength.
The moderator invited us to continue in a climate of openness, tranquility and listening. We voted the minutes of the 19th May, and gave vote of confidence to the general council for the remaining minutes and the final presentation of the document of the chapter.
We discussed the text of the message to the lay associates and some corrections were made. We then proceeded to voting the Orientations of the XXV General Chapter, the recommendations to the general council, the text on communication, the postulate and the message to the lay associates.
We have lived a deep moment of discernment, thanks to the support and prayers of the sisters and the collaboration of all capitulants and those who have given different services during the chapter.
Sr. Aurora Torres addressed us: ‘We thank God who continues to invite us to live in communion as experienced during the chapter. We have allowed the Holy Spirit to work with us. The gospel today invites us to continue to live in the same atmosphere …” She thanked all for their collaboration especially those who gave different services; secretaries, translators, moderator, coordination, communication, and reduction teams and the staff who have helped to keep the place clean.
She ended with a blessing: May the divine light be behind you to protect you, at your side to accompany you, inside you to comfort you, in front of you to guide you and on you to bless you. She them declared the chapter closed.
Closing celebration We walked in procession from the chapter hall to the chapel singing in thanksgiving to God who is good, led by Sr. Aurora Torres who was holding the Easter candle. At the end of the prayer, each capitulant was given a candle. With our candles, we sang ‘Go light your world’. Inviting us to carry our candle, run to the darkness, seek the helpless, the confused and torn, the frustrated, those lied and robbed, praying to the father in the name of Jesus. We ended our celebration praying at the tomb of our mother foundress.
